Meet the Author

B. Eleanor Angle
Of all the creative endeavors I’ve chased in life, this one is the most personal, the most meaningful, and the most unexpected. To discover it at 54 years old feels like proof that it’s never too late for God to begin a new adventure. Writing Baylor’s Big Adventures has unlocked a kind of creativity I didn’t know I had — the kind that feels like coming home.
I grew up in the foothills of Appalachia, where creeks curled through the woods and my Mamaw made my childhood magical. It was also shaped by family, faith, 4-H, and long days outdoors, and later by years of Scouting adventures with my son. Those roots — and the people who poured love and encouragement into me — became the foundation for these stories.
Each story in Baylor’s Big Adventures is woven with the things that matter most: faith, family, and the kind of adventures that linger in your heart long after the day is done.
Above all, these books are my offering back to the One who gave me every good gift. If even one child tucks a seed of kindness, faith, or wonder into their heart after reading, I trust God will do the rest.
Q & A
Q: Where did the inspiration for Baylor’s Big Adventures come from?
The inspiration for the story came from real people I love and real moments I’ve lived. Baylor, Papa, and even Cheddar carry pieces of the people who shaped me — my Mamaw, my parents, my son, and others whose love and encouragement have left a lasting mark on my life. These aren’t just made-up stories; they are rooted in the laughter, wisdom, and faith I’ve experienced firsthand.
Q: What do you hope families take away from these books?
That adventure is everywhere — not just in big trips or special events, but in the everyday moments we share with the people we love. My hope is that children and families will see kindness, faith, and togetherness as treasures worth carrying with them.
Q: Why did you choose fishing as the first adventure?
Fishing felt like the perfect beginning — it’s timeless, slow-paced, and gives space for laughter, stories, and lessons to unfold. Many families, mine included, have memories of fishing trips passed down through generations. It’s a setting where Baylor could learn that the best adventures aren’t about what you catch, but who you share them with.
Q: Is the series just for boys?
Not at all. While the first adventure follows Baylor and his Papa on a fishing trip, the series is about family as a whole. Future books will introduce Baylor’s sister, and Mama, who bring their own warmth, laughter, and lessons to the stories. Baylor’s Big Adventures is for every child who loves to explore, imagine, and discover that adventure is everywhere.
This book was written with love — to honor all the grandparents, parents, and caregivers who pour their time, wisdom, and kindness into the children they love. Thank you for being part of this adventure.
Adventure is everywhere… and it starts with love.

Meet the Illustrator

Ecaterina Leascenco
Ecaterina Leascenco is a children’s book illustrator from Chisinau, Republic of Moldova. She spent Summers in her grandmother’s village—often sketching the woods and a very patient cat—that taught her to listen closely and to notice the small, shining details of everyday life. That early love for drawing led her to formal training at a children’s art school, the Igor Vieru Art Lyceum, and the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts in Chisinau, where she specialized in graphics within the Faculty of Fine Arts.
After the academy, Ecaterina devoted herself to children’s book illustration. She is drawn to the genre’s spontaneity and lightness—and to the way children delight in small things. Forest paths, shifting light on water, and quiet corners of nature are recurring sources of inspiration in her work. Her illustrations are known for warm, hand-drawn textures, and nature-rich details that invite readers to slow down, look closely, and feel at home in the world of the story.
For Baylor’s Big Adventures – Papa and Baylor Go Fishing, Ecaterina created a cozy visual world of sun-touched forests, rippling river light, and expressive characters—Baylor, his grandpa, Papa, and a certain cheese-loving bear—who carry both playfulness and tenderness on every page. She shaped each scene with careful attention to atmosphere and page-turn rhythm, using composition and color to guide young readers’ eyes while leaving space for wonder. Throughout the book, her images echo the story’s themes of kindness, sharing, family love, and the quiet ways faith can be felt in nature.
Ecaterina hopes her picture-making helps families discover that adventure often lives in the smallest moments: a walk beneath tall trees, a picnic by the water, a new friendship, or a whispered prayer at bedtime. When she isn’t illustrating, she’s likely sketching outdoors or gathering textures, colors, and ideas for the next tale—one adventure at a time.
