A Letter from Papa — Campfire #1
Baylor and Papa Go Fishing
Hey there, Adventurer,
Scoot a little closer to the campfire and warm your hands. I’ve got a story ember for you. Do you know what I love about the river? It doesn’t hurry. It just keeps moving, singing over the stones, making room for dragonflies to dance and wildflowers to nod hello. When Baylor and I walk that trail, I always remember: the best adventures aren’t about what we catch—they’re about who we share them with.
Maybe today didn’t go just the way you hoped. That’s alright. God has a way of tucking good things into ordinary moments—a kind word, a shared snack, a laugh that surprises you. If you look for them, you’ll find little treasures everywhere. Sometimes they’re as small as a cheese cube. Sometimes they fit in your pocket, like a heart-shaped pebble. Either way, they’re reminders that you’re loved, and that adventure is everywhere.
Here’s your campfire invitation this week: find one small way to share. Offer the first cookie. Save someone a seat. Listen all the way to the end of a story. When you share, you shine, and that light helps other people find the trail.
And when the world feels noisy, do what the river does—breathe, keep moving, and sing the little song you know. Tuck God’s word in your heart so you can carry it with you. You’ll be surprised how often you reach for it.
I’m proud of you, Adventurer. I’ll keep a place by the fire for you.
See you on the trail,
—Papa
P.S. Campfire Mission: Draw a tiny map of a place you love—a porch step, a park bench, the spot where you found a special rock. Give the map to someone you care about and tell them why it matters to you.
